The arenas
Twelve living arenas. Every one of them is animated.
Each arena is a living scene rather than a still backdrop: falling blossom, swaying trees, wandering animals, weather, boats, crowds and more. In single player you pick your arena. Online matches use a random one.
Original Fuji
Cherry blossom drifts over Mount Fuji while a squirrel scurries across the foreground.
Storm Peaks
Driving rain, forked lightning and rolling thunder over dark, jagged peaks.
Neon Strip
A neon casino street at night, with flickering signs, searchlights and a crowd holding up the players' own names.
Cruise Deck
Fight on the deck of a moving ship, with a rolling sea, passing coastline, sea spray, flapping flags and a turning radar.
Pagoda Lake
A pagoda on a still lake at sunrise, with blossom on the breeze and birds overhead.
Torii Sunset
Rays fan out behind a torii gate standing in calm water at sunset.
River Valley
A wooden bridge crosses a winding river in a valley of autumn colour.
Moonlit Peak
A crescent moon over a rose-coloured peak, with stone lanterns, a prowling fox and an owl that watches you.
Forest
Pale trees under a canopy of blossom, with a still pond and a torii gate in the water.
Coastline
Sailing and fishing boats, leaping dolphins, a surfacing whale and crabs on the shore.
City
A lantern-lit town beneath a castle. Windows glow, people stroll and cycle past, and fireworks light up the sky.
Mountains
Snow drifts over cloud-wrapped peaks while a pine bough sways in the wind.
