How online matches work

Online matches use the same rules as every other fight, but you never have to be online at the same time as your rival. You make your picks, lock them in, and the round resolves as soon as both players have moved. Each match opens with a VS screen showing both fighters and how long each player has been in the Dojo.

Online matches use a random arena.

Finding an opponent

  1. Open the PvP Hub

It shows your matches, your open invites and how many free matches you have left.

  2. Tap Find Opponent

Pick your fighter. If someone has an open invite, you join their match straight away.

  3. Or wait for someone to find you

If there is no invite to join, the game posts your own for someone to take. Open invites last two hours, and you can cancel one at any time for free.

A match is only counted once it starts, so an invite that nobody takes costs you nothing. Matchmaking will not pair you with someone you are already playing.

Your matches

  • Up to three at once. The PvP Hub shows whose move it is in each match.
  • Replays. When you open a match, any rounds you missed play back in full, with every hit, block and callout. You can skip the replay, but the newest round you have not seen always plays out.
  • "Your opponent has moved." If you are waiting inside a fight, the game tells you the moment your rival has locked in, with a tap-to-play prompt.
  • A finished match frees up a slot straight away, so you can start another.

Fair play

Every online result is decided on the server, not on your phone, so nobody can fake a score. If a match goes quiet for too long, it is settled automatically: the player who made their move wins by forfeit, and you will see a plain explanation of what happened.

Free matches and the Dojo Pass

Free players get five online matches every week. The Hub shows how many you have left and when your week resets. Single player and 2 Player VS are never limited.

The optional Dojo Pass gives you:

  • unlimited online matches;
  • more matches at once;
  • the ability to create your own mini leagues.

Paying never makes your fighter stronger, and never earns more XP per match.

Names and tags

Everyone gets a unique, permanent, family-friendly fighter name, such as KALKED, plus a tag for friends, such as KALKED#4821. There is no sign-up and nothing personal to type in.

Belts and XP

Every online match earns XP, whether you win or lose. You are rewarded for hits, blocks, combos, PERFECT turns, knockouts, rounds won and the result itself.

  • Underdog bonus. Beating a higher belt earns more XP, up to double. Beating a lower belt earns less, so fights stay worthwhile at every level.
  • A belt progress bar animates after every match, and an XP breakdown shows where it all came from.
  • MY STATS shows your lifetime online record: matches, wins, win rate, knockouts, PERFECT turns, best streak, hits, blocks, favourite fighter and global rank.
  • White
  • Yellow
  • Orange
  • Green
  • Blue

  • Dan grades

After Black Belt, the Dan grades (1st Dan, 2nd Dan, 3rd Dan and beyond) keep going with no cap.

Friends

  • Add a friend by their name tag from FRIENDS in the PvP menu.
  • Share your own tag using your phone's share sheet.
  • Add your opponent straight from the results screen.
  • Accept or decline requests, with live updates.

Friend challenges, which let you invite a specific friend to a match, are coming soon.

Leaderboards

Global

Every player ranked by XP. Jump to the top, or to the page around your own rank.

Friends

You and your friends, head to head.

Leagues

The monthly standings of your mini league.

Mini leagues

A mini league is a small group of friends racing each other for XP, with a fresh season every month.

  1. Create or join

Creating a league needs a Dojo Pass. You get a six-character join code to share, and anyone can join with it for free.

  2. Play your matches

Everyone starts the month level. Members are ranked by the XP they earn that month.

  3. Win the season

The top player at the end of the month earns a season title, shown next to their name.

  • Up to 30 members in a league, and you can be in up to three leagues.
  • League names are built from fighting-themed word pairs, such as "Crimson Dragons" or "Neon Ninjas", so they are always family-friendly.
  • The owner can remove members. If the owner leaves, the longest-standing member takes over.
